How SportsReflector's AI
Coaching Technology Works

From recording your movement to delivering personalized coaching — here's exactly how SportsReflector uses computer vision and AI to improve your technique across 20+ sports and every gym workout, including free weights, machines, cables, and bodyweight exercises.

1

Choose Your Analysis Mode

SportsReflector offers four ways to capture and analyze your technique. Each mode is optimized for different training scenarios.

Live Camera Recording

Record and analyze in real-time as you train. Best for solo practice sessions.

Video Upload

Import existing videos from your camera roll. Best for analyzing game footage or past recordings.

Multi-Angle Analysis

Combine front, side, and back angles for comprehensive 360° technique review.

Frame-by-Frame

Slow-motion scrubbing to examine every frame of your movement in detail.

2

Computer Vision Tracks Your Body

SportsReflector's computer vision engine uses advanced pose estimation to track 25+ body joints in real-time at up to 240 frames per second. This is faster than any human eye can observe, capturing micro-movements that coaches often miss.

The system tracks joint positions including shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, ankles, spine, neck, and extremities. It calculates joint angles, velocity vectors, acceleration patterns, and spatial relationships between body segments.

What the AI Tracks

Joint angles
Body symmetry
Movement velocity
Force vectors
Kinetic chain
Center of gravity
Rotation speed
Follow-through path
Timing patterns

Sport-Specific AI Analysis

Raw joint data is processed through sport-specific analysis layers. The AI knows what "good form" looks like for each of the 20+ supported sports and applies different evaluation criteria depending on what you're doing.

For example, basketball shooting analysis evaluates elbow alignment, release angle, follow-through, and balance. Golf swing analysis evaluates hip rotation, shoulder turn, clubface angle, and weight transfer. Boxing analysis evaluates guard position, punch trajectory, footwork, and combination timing.

Advanced Breakdown (Pro)

Pro subscribers unlock the deepest analysis available on any mobile coaching app. These features go beyond what even most in-person coaches can observe.

Biomechanical Analysis

Joint angles, force vectors, and kinetic chain analysis. Understand the physics behind your movement.

Symmetry Analysis

Detect left/right imbalances that lead to injury and reduced performance. See exactly where your body is asymmetric.

Injury Risk Flags

Caution flags for risky form patterns before they become injuries. The AI identifies movements that put excessive stress on joints.

Muscle Activation Map

See which muscle groups are engaged during your movement. Identify underactivation that limits performance.

Sport-Specific KPIs

Adaptive metrics tailored to each sport — release angle for basketball, hip rotation for golf, punch speed for boxing.

5

Personalized Drills & AR Training

Based on the weaknesses identified in your analysis, SportsReflector recommends specific drills from its library of 150+ sport-specific exercises. Each drill includes animated demonstrations and difficulty levels from beginner to advanced.

The AR Live Training feature uses ARKit and Vision pose detection for real-time body tracking during drills. You get automatic rep counting, on-screen form feedback, AR drill guides with step-by-step overlays, and live skeleton visualization — like having a personal trainer watching your every rep.

6

Track Progress Over Time

Every analysis session is saved to your profile. SportsReflector tracks your scores over time so you can see exactly how much you've improved. The before/after comparison feature lets you view sessions side-by-side with score deltas highlighted.

Body heatmaps show which areas of your technique have improved the most and which still need work. Set personal goals, track streaks, and share your progress with coaches or training partners.

The Technology Behind SportsReflector

SportsReflector is built on advanced pose estimation models that track 25+ body joints in real-time at up to 240 frames per second using standard smartphone cameras. No additional hardware, sensors, or wearables are required.

The AI engine applies sport-specific analysis layers trained on thousands of hours of professional athlete footage. Each sport has its own evaluation criteria, scoring rubrics, and technique benchmarks. The system continuously improves as more athletes use the platform.

Unlike apps that require manual coach annotations (like OnForm or CoachNow), SportsReflector provides fully automated AI analysis. You get instant feedback without waiting for a human coach to review your video. This makes it ideal for athletes who train independently or want immediate technique feedback between coaching sessions.

The AR Live Training system uses Apple's ARKit and Vision frameworks for real-time body tracking during exercises. It provides on-screen form corrections, automatic rep counting, and visual guides — combining the convenience of a mobile app with the feedback quality of a personal trainer.
